Vestas Invests Nearly $1 Billion in U.S. Manufacturing Facilities

Denmark-based Vestas, the leading provider of high-tech wind power systems, has invested nearly $1 billion in the United States and Colorado since 2007. As of July, the company opened three factories that serve the growing U.S. clean-energy industry in Brighton, Windsor and Pueblo, and has plans for a fourth manufacturing facility also in Brighton expected to open in 2011.

“We are taking the approach that it is important to build the communities in which our employees live and work, and this means we need to have a big picture view of jobs. With that in mind, we are exploring opportunities with businesses neighboring our factories. We are encouraging suppliers to build the wind industry’s North American supply chain that will help create even more jobs for the wind business.”

-- Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas-American Wind Technology Inc.

Vestas has created more than 1,000 highly skilled manufacturing jobs in Colorado to meet the growing production needs of its three factories currently in operation.
